Beyonce drinks Alkaline water?

Beyonce Knowles recently made headlines for insisting on drinking alkaline water during her tour, which she drank at exactly 21 degrees, through a titanium straw. Many mainstream media outlets criticized Beyonce for her choice of refreshment, dismissing her as a “diva”. But a closer look at the facts reveals that Beyonce is setting an excellent example for her fans, and showing the rest of us a way forward.

Health benefits of alkaline water:

Hydration: Due to alkaline ionized water’s smaller water cluster size, alkaline water can hydrate and enter your body cells more effectively than regular drinking water.

Energy: Because of the hydrating effects of alkaline ionized water, you will feel more energized and ready to embark on any challenge.  The natural antioxidant and alkaline minerals found in alkaline ionized water will also help revitalize and replenish lost minerals.

Acid NeutralizingMany of the processed foods and beverages we eat are acidic in nature. While acid production in our body is nearly impossible to avoid, it can have negative effects on the way we feel and operate. Bodies high in toxic acidic waste over an extended period of time experience a loss of strength, decreased bone, muscle, and kidney health, and decreased vitality or sluggishness. Many leading doctors and nutritionists believe that one key measure to prevent this acidity is by consuming food and beverages with high alkaline metabolizing effects.

Mineral Nutrition: Alkaline Ionized Water is charged with antioxidant and alkaline minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron among many others.  These minerals can be found in alkaline foods as well, but alkaline ionized water is also effective in providing these essential minerals in an easy and refreshing way.

Does milk help build strong bones?

image

Many of us are taught at a very early age to drink milk, because it’s good for us and provides a high content of calcium, which is good for our bones.  Cow’s milk, does have a high content of calcium, around 300 mg in fact. But did you know that this calcium is actually not properly absorbed my our body?

The truth is that cow’s milk and its calcium content is intended to nurture little baby calves, not humans.  Our bodies respond differently to this type of calcium.  Would you believe that this calcium actually depletes our bones?

The truth is that cow’s milk, like any animal protein has an acidic pH.  Once milk is ingested, it becomes acidic and the body will use the best acid neutralizer in the body to balance this acidic pH, the best acid neutralizer in the body happens to be calcium, and the highest amount of calcium is stored in our bones. Thus, milk depletes our bones rather than strengthening them.

image

This is important to keep in mind when treating osteoporosis, or any other type of illness.  Milk does not have the healing effects that it’s believed to have.  The solution to weak bones is not milk.

So, what are the solutions?

ALKALINE FOODS!!  Dark leafy greens, dark vegetables, dried herbs, almonds and flax seeds! Delicious Alkaline Ionized Water is also a great way to add calcium to our diet!

Remember, keep an eye on your dairy product, animal product and sugar consumption, these foods are very acidic and often alter your body’s pH.

The Secret to Beautiful Skin and Hair

Ionized alkaline water is popular for drinking for its health benefits. But for healthy hair and skin, acidic ionized water is the right choice. The hair and skin have a pH range of 3 – 3.5, so ionized acidic water provides the right pH balance for hair and skin

Beauty water is ionized water

Ionized acidic water is called beauty water in Asia, because it is widely used for its beauty benefits.  Ionized acidic water acts as an astringent, naturally toning and tightening the skin. Minor skin irritations can be soothed by acidic water, and it can even be used for first aid.

How to use ionized water for beautiful skin

Use mild acidic water, with a pH of 4 – 5. Wash regularly with ionized acidic water to help your skin’s pH balance and improve its appearance. If your face looks tired, splash on some ionized water and it will brighten up your skin for a quick beauty tune-up. Ionized acidic water is a great touch up for puffy eyes.

For irritated skin, soak a clean cloth in ionized acidic water and cover the affected area with it. For soothing skin irritations, the water should be cool to cold. For sunburns and minor burns, use cold ionized acidic water.

Ionized acidic water is a miracle for hair

If you have long hair, you will love what ionized acidic water will do for it. Rinsing hair with ionized acidic water compacts and closes hair follicles. This makes the hair stronger, shinier, and more manageable. An ionized acidic water rinse for damaged or over processed hair can restore health and shine in as little as one treatment!

Ionized acidic water is gentle enough to use every day. Over time, it will help to dissolve and rinse away build up left by styling products and hard water.

How to use ionized water for beautiful hair

Wash your hair normally and put conditioner in as you normally would. Rinse the conditioner from your hair with ionized acidic water. Amazingly, you can even comb the conditioner out of your hair as you rinse it! Ionized acidic water makes the tangles just fall out.

AN ODE TO WATER

A Poem by Warren King, L.Ac.

No odor doth thou release to nose
Nor color to the eye
No savor to the thirsting tongue
Now I think that I know why
Repeated drops a canyon carves
And labyrinths of caves
Reflecting all when stillness reigns
Or pounding rock to sand with waves
Two hydrogen they say you have
Is not that the composition of the Sun?
One oxygen combined with these
With the breath of Life you’re one
So mix the spirit fire
With the mind of air
And you get this substance
To which nothing can compare
Cycling through all nature
Ocean, clouds and rain
Flowing in all bloodstreams
Over chemistry supreme you reign
You purify and crystallize
With no seeming effort in your task
No life exists without you
But never thanks you ask
Merely streaming on your way
Without a backward glance
Nurturing at every turn
All being you enhance
Mother I might call you
For all that thou dost give
Or Water, as your common name
I thank you that I live

On this Valentine’s we hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day and remember to stay hydrated with delicious alkaline ionized water.

A little more potassium in our lives!

Did you know that eating more foods with potassium can significantly reduce the risk of high blood pressure?  Foods like beans, peas, cabbage, spinach, bananas and papaya are delicious and also decrease the chances of strokes and heart disease.

According to Dr. Francesco Branca, director of the World Health Organization’s Department of Nutrition for Health and Development.

“Elevated blood pressure is a major risk for heart disease and stroke — the number one cause of death and disability globally”

This also includes our children, who are now more frequently exposed to foods extremely high in sodium.  Branca also stated,

“children with elevated blood pressure often become adults with elevated blood pressure.”

Let’s end this cycle of illness and change our dietary habits, with a little more potassium in our lives!

Remember, stay healthy and hydrated!

10 tips to keeping those New Year’s resolutions

1.  BE REALISTIC.  Plan on setting goals that are attainable.  Don’t eliminate things from your life completely, you can begin by slowly removing them until you don’t need them anymore.

2.  PLAN AHEAD.  Don’t wait until last minute to jump into your New Year’s resolutions, prepare what you need before hand so that you have the tools you need to successfully attain your goals.

3.  OUTLINE YOUR PLAN.  There is nothing wrong with putting your plans on paper or on a bulletin board.  This helps you get organized and enables you to keep track of your progress.

4.  MAKE A “PROS” AND “CONS” LIST.  Sometimes it’s difficult to say good bye to old habits. A pros and cons list can help ease the transition by allowing you to see what is good and bad about your current habits or future goals.

5.  TALK ABOUT IT.   Communicate your goals to the people around you.  Sometimes communication encourages friends and family to be more supportive, especially when you are trying to let go of an old habit, moral support is definitely important.

6.  REWARD YOURSELF. Who doesn’t love rewards, especially when you’ve worked so hard to keep your goals.  However watch that rewards don’t interfere with your progress, for example don’t reward yourself with chocolate if your goal is to lose weight.

7.  TRACK YOUR PROGRESS.  Keep track of your success by getting a diary or notebook where you can document all of your progress.

8.  DON’T BEAT YOURSELF UP.  Slip ups are bound to happen specially during your transition period, don’t obsess over a mistake.  Move forward,  Do the best you can each day.

9.  STICK TO ITExperts say it takes about 21 days for a new activity, such as exercising, to become a habit, and 6 months for it to become part of your personality. Your new healthful habits will become second-nature in no time.

10.  KEEP TRYING.  It didn’t work out and you gave up in February? It’s okay, you can start over again!! Don’t give up on your goals, remember you are doing this to better yourself, nobody else is going to do it for you.  Get up and try again!

We hope these tips help you achieve your New Year’s goals, remember to be strong, breathe and drink lots of water!  Happy 2013!!

Brace yourselves for an early flu season!

According to the Center for Disease Control we are going to be experiencing the earliest flu season since the 2003-2004 season. Thus far the number of states experiencing widespread flu has been doubling.

Times like these are especially tough on children and the elderly.  Immunizations and proper care is necessary to prevent illnesses and deaths.

According to NPR, “One big difference between this year and the 2003-2004 season is that so far the vaccine appears to be a very good match for the strains of flu that are circulating most widely.”

To all of our readers, please take a moment to get yourself and family vaccinated and kick flu to the curb!  Thanks for reading and remember to stay warm!

What about our groundwater?

When most of us think about water, we might visualize a lake, river, stream, ocean, droplets of rain and so on, but we don’t really think much about our ground water.  Ground water however, plays a very important role in our water cycle.

When water evaporates and falls in the form of rain or ice, it eventually ends up in the ground.  This groundwater then travels through the cracks in the soil and makes its way to a lake, river, ocean or large body of water, where it can evaporate once more and go through the same cycle all over again. As you can see, our water is constantly on a moving cycle.

However, a problem emerges when we begin to think about all of the contaminants we have stored underground.  Throughout decades we have been storing things like oil and gasoline underground, we have also built septic tanks and landfills to dispose our waste.  These underground storage facilities pollute the groundwater that will eventually make its way to lakes, rivers, rain or even become our tap water.

Pollutants like industrial chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, detergents, fertilizers, lead, mercury, nickel, chromium and even bacteria can be found in our groundwater.

This can be a scary thought specially if you drink or cook with tap water.

Fortunately for us, there are ways we can reduce this harmful pollutants from our drinking water.  Think Alkaline offers a great line of affordable water filtering units that generate clean and deliciously crisp drinking water, click here to take a look!

Once again, thank you for reading.  We hope you have a wonderful rest of your week.

I’m not DEHYDRATED…am I?

When most of us hear the word “dehydration” we might think of a thirsty person stuck in the middle of the desert, but that is not always the event in which dehydration occurs.  Most of us are dehydrated right now, and we might not even know it!

                         image

The truth is that dehydration is very common amongst us.  Water is lost in every activity we do throughout the day, exercising, walking, talking, perspiring even breathing.  Many of us do not replenish the water we loose during these activities and thus end up dehydrated.  Many of us also like to drink coffee and alcohol and these drinks make us loose even more water. Are we replenishing the water we are loosing?

When we don’t replenish the lost water in our bodies, we begin to see the symptoms.  Some are very subtle like chapped and dry lips, others are a bit more uncomfortable like nausea, constipation, brain fog, fatigue or headaches.  Are you experiencing any of these symptoms today? If so, ask yourself if you have had enough water throughout your day.

image

Drinking water ensures the transportation and absorption of nutrients, we also need water for the elimination of waste, regulation of body temperature, joint lubrication and tissue moisture.  Water also supports the helical spiral of DNA and is involved in the transmission of signals throughout our body, when the amount or quality of the water we drink is compromised, these signals become distorted or short-circuited.  So it is safe to say that drinking a lot of water is crucial for good health, in fact many diseases could be avoided by staying hydrated.

Problems like fatigue, constipation, digestive disorders, high blood pressure, cholesterol, respiratory troubles, acid-alkaline imbalance, weight gain, skin disorders, liver, kidney, bladder problems, joint problems and premature aging could all be avoided or reduced by staying hydrated.  Who knew?!

    image

Drinking water could help, but did you know that alkaline ionized water has even better results than drinking ordinary filtered water.  How so? you may ask.  Alkaline Ionized Water goes through a process called ionization where, once filtered enters an electrolysis chamber that generates alkaline ionized water.  This water is hexagon shaped and can enter and hydrate cells more efficiently than a regular water molecule.  Read more about the fascinating facts of alkaline ionized water here

Thank you for reading and remember, stay hydrated!

Say No to R.O!!!!

  • Reverse Osmosis completely strips water from the healthy minerals found in water like calcium and magnesium, these minerals are essential and good for us.
  • R.O. water also has a slightly more acidic pH than regular drinking water, due to the alkaline removal process that occurs during the R.O. process.
  • R.O. systems also generate more waste than filtered water. Did you also know that in order to produce 1 gallon of clean water, R.O. systems produce 3-4 gallons of waste water.
  • Most R.O. systems also do not remove chlorine or tiny particles like pesticides and insecticides, you need a carbon block filter to do this.
  • R.O. units are also very expensive and once installed they are very difficult to remove.

The good news is that you don’t have to go the R.O. route to get clean and delicious water, there is another option available for obtaining clean filtered water and did I mention it’s also less expensive. Click here to find out how you can get delicious clean water in your home!
